I'm so sorry for your losses...I have had two myself and the first one was a complete shock, I had spotting but the doctors told me it was normal and at my scan at 8 weeks they told me it stopped growing around 5 weeks..I miscarried that same week..on my second loss I had a D&C I had the same situation again but was followed more closely but the pregnancy wouldnt end on it's own...my doctor did not recommend the pills to help the miscarriage along she said alot of times it doesnt work and you go through alot of pain for nothing and still have to have the D&C...My friend Sara took them after a blighted ovum the first dose didnt work but the second dose did..They gave her vicoden for pain..She said it hurt like really bad period cramps but not too bad, so they did end up working for her..Make sure if u take them u have someone sit with u and make sure u are ok..I'm so sorry you have to go through this yet again. Abig hug to you and all your going through. I will say im sorry for your loss but at this point in time Im not sure that will help you. Take one day at a time and get some rest. With my miscarriage it tried starting on its own, but my dr. said if overnight it hasnt happened we would do a d&c. Well it didnt happen on its own so it was a d&c for me. I wasnt given anyother options so im not sure about the pills or anything. Just take it easy and go one day at a time

I too had a missed miscarriage almost a year ago exactly. I was devoloping to 14 weeks along- the baby stopped at 7-8 weeks. It was heartbreaking.

The pill you are describing is what I took. They are not that bad. They are little hexagon-shaped orange pills that you don't take orally and you wear with a tampon and a pad usually. They basically induce labor/spontaneous abortion- so cramping is a lot heavier and a lot more painful. They will give you a very high dosage of pain killers- take them, trust me, you will need them. For me, the cramping lasted for about a day and a half- until the major clots get out. Then it was like a regular miscarriage- bleeding for about 2 weeks. It was sort of scary because I didn't know what to expect. But it wasn't nearly as awful (physically) as I thought it would be.

I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I feel your pain. Take one day at a time and hang in there. The hurt does go away with time. My thoughts are with you.

my dear friend, welcome to my boat. i'm so sorry that you have to do this again, but i want to tell you what i've learned from mine (3). your page doesn't tell if you have had testing done, etc. and time is of the essence here.
*I AM NOT A PEOPLE DOCTOR*
but someone who is helping you find the cause of your miscarriages (and they SHOULD BE TRYING TO DO THIS FOR YOU) would likely want to run a genetic test on the "products of conception". this genetic test is really sensitive and difficult to do, so that means the tissue has to be really fresh. the best chance they have of testing that tissue is to do a d&c on you. the opportunity is here right now and will soon be gone. if your doctor hasn't shown interest in looking into the cause, please find someone who will asap. message me if you want some guidance, i am having the tests done myself and seeing a genetic counselor this week. be strong, i am wishing the best for you in this challenging situation.

I have seen many posts on here about having the miscarriage at home, but when I had mine, I was hemmorhaging, and the doctor did not give me an option. I had a D&E that day. She said that I would continue to bleed without one and that there was no reason to make me go through that. The surgery was very easy, and I have never been in the hospital before let alone been under anesthesia or had sugery. It was over in no time and I went home a couple of hours later. As "pigtails" suggested, my doctor had the baby sent to pathology to be tested just to be sure that there was no serious reason for the miscarriage. As easy as the procedure was, I am not sure why they would make you wait like that.

I'm so sorry, I went through the same thing you did. I was just going in for my monthly check up to find out that my baby did not have a heartbeat. How horrible that day was. I had to wait two days for my D&C and NEVER did I experience ONE symptom of a miscarriage. I felt GREAT physically but mentally I was falling apart. I had all the options you did, I was just really afraid to see my 14 week on baby come out of me. It was a devastating thought. I just went in for the D&C and I bled to much and had to go in for a SECOND one. Now I'm having a problem getting pregnant I'm so afraid that is the reason. So please just consider all options. Wow. I thought waiting two days after finding out my baby was no longer alive to have a D&C was bad enough. I cannot even imagine. My doctor left it up to me, because she said sometimes even if you want nature to take its course, it may not always all come out on its own, and infections can result. It can take as long as 4 weeks. Although I wasn;t willing to take any pill, so that may have been why. I am so sorry for your losses. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, we will all be here.

I am so sorry for your loss, I too had a missed miscarriage and had to wait 5 days to have a D&C. My doctor didn't mention a pill. The waiting to see if nature takes its course is a horrible thing, I think they thought mine would happen in those 5 days and it did not, so, the D&C had to be performed. My heart goes out to you in having to make this decision.....big hugs to you.

I also experienced a missed miscarriage--I went in for a routine appointment, only there was no heart beat this time. Apparently my baby had died approximately three weeks earlier. My doctor gave me the options of waiting adn passing the baby "normally" but she suggested a D&C due to the risk of infection and DIC. The procedure itself is quick and simple, but for me it also had its own emotional implications...just make sure your choice is yours. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
