No family time!

Does anyone else have a husband that is always gone? We have a six month old baby and I feel like he is hardly here! Although he isn't currently deployed, he is working five 12's. It's so rough on him because when he is home he is sleeping. He always seems down because he is missing all of the firsts. I understand that it would be harder if he was deployed, but I feel at a loss. What type of things do you do as a family with limited time to spend together?

I completely understand what you are going through! My husband and I have a one year old, and it seems like this year they have been spending a lot more time at trainings or in the field. There is also a possibility that he may have to deploy later this year :( Having a little one makes doing things together even more difficult because we have to take into account that his behavior will not always be perfect in public and he gets cranky when he's tired! With that being said, we spend most of our time at home just trying to enjoy each other's company when we get a chance. I know our options will expand once our son is a little older, but that doesn't make it any easier for the time being. If you think of any great ideas let me know!

It is definitely not easy to plan outings around nap times, feedings and cranky babies! We have been enjoying walks, trips to the park or water front. That way the baby isn't interrupting people trying to enjoy a nice dinner out. We tend to go to more family friendly establishments now! However, I still get nervous that she is going to be loud, but thats to be expected from a child. :P I'm hoping once the weather warms up some we will be able to get out and do more.

Hi, I know that this my be a tough issue to deal with, but there are many alternatives to this. I would like to share one. Establishing a family night and time. This my help to combat the issue, and if this works, then you can implement a date night. These thins can be done by email, text, or a shared calendar. I hope this works for you.
