Hi everyone,
as the title states I'm new to this style of relationship. My boyfriend is joining the Marines in 2 weeks for his initial training. He is so looking forward to it and I am so proud of him. He has worked so hard to get here as all the recruits do.
I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get through it? When they're away for so long with hardly any contact. We only see eachother on the weekends anyway but the thought of not seeing him for weeks on end haunts me.
My brother has been in the forces so I know how the distance affects family but when you're in a relationship with that person I can tell its going to be much worse.
Any tips on dealing with missing them will be very much appreciated.

I love what navyfiance51218 wrote above about writing letters every day for your partner! What a beautiful way to shower your deployed partner in love and keep them up to date on your life. I think that could help to keep connection alive for him while he is away. For you, I wonder if there is a way for your partner to write you a letter to keep for those times when you are really missing him...maybe something to tuck away under your pillow or on your mirror to turn to in the moments when you miss him the most. That way, even if he isn't able to be physically there to talk to you, you can still read his words. Or, maybe he could leave you a voicemail before he is away for you to save and listen to in those moments. Then you could even hear his voice. :)
