Today's military family faces a lifestyle that is comprised of frequent deployments, which results in increased family separations. This often proves to be a stressful challenge for military families. This community is dedicated to the families that are dealing with the unique challenges of distance and military-related stress.
ok i was at school 2day and this boy was like, "i sont like the national guard." and i was like "why" and he said its because its the lowest form of the military. and im thinking what does this sophomore in highschool know about the military?!?!?!?!?! i hate people who assume they know everything there is to know about anything! i swear im gonna slap this kid b4 the school year is over with!! but i want to say just one thing...IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT PART OF THE MILITARY YOU JOIN. YOU ARE STILL A SOLDIER. JUST BECAUSE YOU SIGNED WITH THE NATIONAL GUARD INSTEAD OF GOING FULL ARMY DOESNT MAKE YOU ANY LESS OF A SOLDIER. NAT'L GUARD PPL GO THROUGH THE SAME EXACT TRAINING AS REGULAR ARMY! SO FOR ALL THE PEOPLE (not saying any one on here, at all) THAT SAY NATIONAL GUARD IS FOR PUSSYS AND THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST DONE STRAIGHT ARMY....THEY ARE STILL SOLDIERS. AND THEY ARE NOT PUSSYS OR COWARDS FOR NOT WANTING TO GO FULL ARMY! MAYBE THEY JUST WANT TO STAY CLOSER TO HOME! THEY SERVE THEIR COUNTRY AND THEY ALSO SERVE WHEN A NATURAL DISASTER STRIKES OR THEIR COMMUNITY NEEDS THEM!!!!!!! SO TO ME THATS KINDA LIKE A "DOUBLE DUTY" SOLDIER. ug! that boy made me SO freakin mad today!!! i do not mean to offend any one in any way and i dont think i have but in case i did im sorry! just had to voice my opinion...with out causing a scene in the middle of class! ug!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a little story about National Guard and Reserve.
In June 1967 I graduated fron High School. In March 1968 joined the Army. Some of my friends laughed at me for going regular Army. Gary joined the National Guard and Tony the Reserves. On Jan. 20 1969 I landed in Cameron Bay Viet Nam. One of the first people I ran into was Tony. He had been ther for 45 days. His unit had been activeted 10 days after he completed training.
After two days at Cameron Bay I went to BlackHorse Base camp, Home of the 11th Armored Cav. I had been there two days when I had to go to supply for parts to repair vehicles. The supply clerk was Gary. He had been there for 60 days. I had been there for less than a week.
Point is, it doesnt matter what branch, Army, Navy,Marines,Air Force. Active, Reserve or National Guard. We all took the same oath, Training and do the same jobs.
What it all comes down to is that it doesn't matter the branch, status or even rank. When there is a job to be done we will do it to the best we have been trained and to the best of our ability. And we will do so with HONOR.
Now for your Sophmore fella, tell him when things need to be done they first send in the National Guard, Then when they can't handle they send the Regular Army or Marines. So Who is the Pussy?
Proof is in the doing. just tell him "Put up or Shut up". If he has the testical Fortitude to do it then show me. It not then tuck your tail and run.
If he doesn't like that then KHS$$!
