Military Families Support Group
Today's military family faces a lifestyle that is comprised of frequent deployments, which results in increased family separations. This often proves to be a stressful challenge for military families. This community is dedicated to the families that are dealing with the unique challenges of distance and military-related stress.

Hey guys!! Hope you all are keeping strong and are in high spirits!! I am just about done with my frirst deployment and he is almost home, so that is super exciting, but I recieved some news that I am not too thrilled about. I don't know if you guys have heard of the profession Marine security gaurd (MSG), but basically it requires them to travel to different American embassies around the world. Theres alot training, schooling and rules in becoming one. Thing is that he hates where he is at right now and has been wanting to do something like this for so long. I couldn't be more excited for him for following his dream, however this dream requires him to be away for 3 years with no leave. Anything under a sergant is not allowed to have any dependents. We have have been together for two years and I have never been so inlove, but 3 years without being able to see him. I honestly don't know what to do...

I have a few questions.
Will it be one embassy or many?
Will they be in the same area or all over the world?
If in the same area? Like Europe, could you move there so you could be closer to him and maybe visit where he is on weekends? Same thought for if it is one place.
If not then this is harder, I hope you both have talked and a solution has been found, but if not then. If love is worth it and he is worth it, then let him go. And if it is true love and the same for him, he will find his way back to you. It will hurt and I know you want to hold him close, but the last thing you want is possible resentment down the road if you try and convince him to not chase his dreams.
Those we love are never gone, they are always with us. I am thinking of you two.
