Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. I find there is no rhyme or reason to aura's for myself. I could get a few a day, and then get nothing for months. Get them with migraines and then get them and no migraines. Some take out my vision completely, and some look like lightening. Some days I can get both. I wish it were a barameter for something, but for me, it isn't.

My doctor dx mine as Optical migraines. I don't have any pain with them but my vision is so distorted I have to lie down. I may see parts of things like a painting may see both sides of frame but not the middle they are very weird but thankfully I don't have them often. They don't last but about 30 min. I lie down and the vision returns to normal. I haven't had to take medication as of yet for them they always go away, had a different kind a little while ago though that wasn't like the usual ones this time the vision was more. Blurry than the zig zags that usually accompany the optical ones. Hope you are feeling better soon. Vicki ..

Those are the most common occurrences these days. 40 years ago I got my first migraine aura and pain. Then I had several episodes, then for a few years nothing. Around 1987 they began again, worse pain than ever and often at the time of a storm. In 92 I saw an Amish healer/herbalist. He manipulated my neck and I didn't have another aura or pain till around 2001. Again aura and pain so bad I went to the ER more than once. Since about 2005 all I get is tension headaches and occasional aura with great fear that the horrible migraine will surface. So far nothing as bad but the auras can occur once a day, 3 times a day or they can go away for weeks. I do know certain lights, glare and weather play a part. I'm always wiped out after and feel nauseous.
