Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
A relative the same age as me died in an auto accident a few days ago. Both he and I have been disabled by health issues for several years. Actually, I thought he was far worse off than me. I spend my days in isolation and in pain, while he spent his days as a volunteer in the community. "Volunteer of the year" is in every newspaper article. If there were justice everyone would be going to my funeral, not his. Instead all there is is an inspiration if I can listen.
I totally understand how you want to spend your time at home. Being in chronic pain and having illness I have become the same way. It is really hard to be in the public when you never feel well. I know my family doesn't quite get it, but it is just too exhausting.
Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
It sounds like he had a good life and enjoyed his time out among others. We all handle our chronic illnesses so differently. When this happened to me last year I tried to remember that we all have worth and bring it to our friends, families and community in different ways.

My step father was a volunteer of so many organizations. I deacon at our church. While he was battling terminal cancer (valiantly keeping it at bay for 5 years) he continued to volunteer and had his dog register as a therapy dog to cheer up the other patients.
At his funeral few of the hundreds of people he has personal helped out in his career showed up!
I felt that was a slap in the face to the brave man, war hero, pilar of the community and kind soul that he was. It is a sad society when people forget the importance of paying their respects!
I am sorry to hear that your disabilities have caused isolation and endless pain for you. Feeling isolated by society from people that just don't "get it" is hard enough. I can't imagine being phyically isolated too. I hope you get some relief from your pain and take comfort that dailystrength's community ensures you are not truely alone.

I feel for you suffering so much and always being in pain.
I have pain all the time now and spend most of my time alone in my flat longing for the pain to end. Constant pain is so draining and I have felt broken by it and unable to go on. Nothing the doctors prescribed for my migraines worked because I kept getting bad side effects.
I hope you can find some relief from the pain.
