It didn't work last night and it didn't work today and I just read on the instructions that if there is no improvement in your symptoms, do not take any more before talking to your doctor, GREAT! I am I dieing? I am getting SCARED!

This is the generic for Imitrex. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out which triptan works best for you. Maxalt was my favorite until stopped working well. Now I am taking the same one you are on. It works better than Maxalt right now, but messes with my stomach. It seems that Zomig works well for a lot of people that have not done well on imitrex??? (anyone want to chime in on that?) Just call your doc and let him/her know that it is not helping. Did you take one and then wait 2 hours and try another? Sometimes it takes two, especially if you took it when the migraine had already started. If it gets unbearable, please don't hesitate to call someone to take you to the ER. The general rule of thumb, I believe, is if this is the worst it has ever been, then go. We are at greater risk for stroke. Also i take Metoprolol which is a BP medication (even though my BP is usually normal) as a preventative. May want to try that.

Are you dying??? Gosh, i hope not, but I do know what it is like to wonder. Mid-migraine, I have often wondered that. I think... "i must have a tumor or something" or "is this a stroke?" I have even hoped that I was dying and wondered if you could buy a guillotine on the black market. All those are common thoughts for migraineurs. Hang in there. It takes a lot of trial and error to get the right medications for each individual. I pray your current migraine goes away quickly and you can take a breath before having to work at figuring out what works. It can be so frustrating and wearying.

Thank you, I am about to call my brain doctor and tell him that I am still getting handaches and if he thinks I should worry about it? Let;s hope he says no and doesn't send me in for a MRI.

I know MRIs are no fun, but it is probably a good idea, if you haven't had one in a while... just to be sure. If it is truly migraines, then it will be comforting to know that it is not something worse. Or at least that is how I felt. I do suggest not going in when you do have a headache. i did that recently and the pounding and noise was almost unbearable. Then afterwards I was so sick.

My head aches is everyday so it will be hard not to, maybe I will take a pain pill before I go in.

definitely!!!! I hope you find an answer soon. We have rain here today which is a guaranteed headache day, but not as bad as usual. I have headaches almost everyday, so I know how hard it is to function. How are you handling not working or managing with the basic day to day stuff?

doesn't work for me. i took the entire day's dose and still had a raging headache and side effects from the med - imitrex brain/speech. the neuro switched me back to aomig because that helps eventually. unfortunately there's no magic pill that i'm aware of...

an mri might give you a headache - it's a lot of noise but it's very useful to rule out other things and not necessarily really scary stuff. sometimes it shows a herniated disc - they can cause migraines. not the best news but compared to a tumor i'll take a 'slipped disc.' oh, wait, i've got some, lol seriously, they do cause some of my headaches i think.

Same as Imitrex... I had a bad reaction to Imitrex (convulsions) . Watch taking with other meds.

My doctor told me that this generic form of Imitrex was the first migraine drug out and it is not near as effective as the later drugs. There are also many more side effects.

Relpax works extremely well for me as does Frova. I keep Maxalt in my purse in case I can't get to water to take a pill (it melts under your tongue) but while this takes the pain away immediately, it doesn't take it away for good. I usually still have to take another medication like the Relpax.

I hope you get help soon. Why not ask for samples of some of the newer, better drugs like Relpax, Frova, Zomig, Axert? That way you can determine what works best for YOU.
