Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I have suffered from migraines since I was 12. The older I get the worse the migraines are. I have probably 27 migraines per month. I also have fibromyalgia, arthritis in my spine, bone spurs in my lower spine, depression, anxiety and degenerative disc disease. The migraines trigger the fibro and the fibro triggers migraines...a vicious cycle. I miss me...the things I used to be able to do, like working, working out, etc; Right now I am trying to rebuild my life as it is, and not the way it was. It is hard to do but I don't want to get lost in this and I can feel it happening a little more everyday. I go to church and Bible study and that seems to be my saving grace.
I probably get 3-4 a month but they will last 4-5 days. Lately I have been using a combination of over the counter meds in conjunction with my migraine medication.
I take Claritin for allergies, Tylenol & 1 Advil. The Advil is a big no no for because I have kidney disease. But lately my main concern is just some relief from the pain.
I am waiting for approval from my medical company to try Botox for migraine pain.
I also have chronic kidney disease. I had a transplant last year but need to have my old, severely enlarged & cystic kidneys removed.
Who knows? Maybe it will help with my migraines?
