Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

Does anyone take Relpax for their migraines? I took one a bit ago for an oncoming migraine associated with my period. And I really don't want to miss another day of school. This is the first time I've taken it. Anyone have luck?

Last time i had a migraine for 5 days...i went to my dr & he gave me one to try, within 2 hrs headache was gone. ;-)

the next time i tried it it had no effect....so for me its hit or miss.
they are VERY expensive, thats why i dont use them more often.

I have used Relpax in the past and it worked great for me. I think it is a great drug, not sure why my doctor switched my meds. I now use Amerge during menses and Zomig nasal spray (which works fast) the rest of the time.

my neurologist just put me on axert when the onset of the migraine comes on. I had to take 1 and then if the headache came back in two hours take another. I have a problem though my co-pay is $90 for nine pills, and I have frequent migraines. I cannot afford to stay on this med.

I still use the old standby Immitrex. And it works really well for me. I have used zomig before and it works really well.

I take Relpax as soon as I sense an aura coming on before the headache. It works well most of the time, but it doesn't work for me if I take one when I get a migraine without aura.

Thanks guys, for all the replies! The migraine went away in two hours or so, and even though I still had that twinge in the back of my neck, it eventually went away too.

@RachylA: My doctor put me on Imitrex before, which worked fine at first, but after the first few times, it started upsetting my stomach. Then he tried a dissoluble pill, Maltrex, but that didn't work at all. Then we tried Fioricet, which works sometimes but is only for tension headaches, and now he gave me samples of Relpax, which seems to work and hopefully continues to do so.

Also, it's really hard for me to distinguish between tension headaches vs. migraines vs. headaches, etc. etc. so sometimes, I'm not sure what to take. :(

I used to use zomig but after 10 years of success, they became ineffective for me. Now I am on Replax and am much happier. I was used to Zomig working quickly while Relpax takes several hours to work. Also, with Zomig, it was only effective if taken right at the onset of a migraine, while with Relpax I can take it anytime and eventually the migraine goes away. The other noticeable difference between the two drugs is that if the zomig didn't work, it was useless to take another pill while with Relpax, as long as I've waited 24 hours, I can take a second pill and it often works if the first pill doesn't. So I have no complaints with Relpax - except for the cost Yikes
