Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
For the past year I have had increasing numbers of migraines with visual disturbances. It is always the same pattern....I get an aura...my body knows a migraine is coming...sounds are different, my body gets warm and strange feeling, and then the lights bother me, and slowly I get the zig zags and lightning flashes in one eye. My doctor says that since they are this type of migraine, I cannot take migraine medicines because they could cause more issues for me, such as a stroke. The headaches are not extreme that follow, but they are all day long and I get nauseous and dizzy.
I was just wondering if others had this issue. They are usually in the morning, about a month apart, and make it almost debilitating to work for an hour or two till it clears up, which makes it difficult since I teach.

If they happen in the morning, do you have symptoms or a warning that one is coming? Maybe if you can learn the signals your body is giving you, then maybe you'll have enough time to call for a sub.
I'm lucky, in my school district, if I arrive and then get a migraine, I can still get a sub, as long as I notify the office by 9:30am. But, I had to get special medical accommodations for this right
