Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Second, I don't know if your chiropractor cracks your neck or not, but if they do, PLEASE STOP. People with migraine are at a greater risk of stroke then just the general population, and chiropractors can do so much damage to the blood vessels in your neck and really, really screw things up. That's one thing you don't want to happen.
In the long run, I wish I could give you advice on how to deal with social situations. My migraines were getting kind of bad in high school, but by the time I was in college, they were horrible. To this day, I have chronic daily migraines, and I barely make it to any social event unless it is quiet, in a cool space, and I have ALL of my medication with me.
But one place I will point you to...there is an online website called Migraine.com I love that website. You should subscribe to it. It's so motivational, and it really does give great advice on how to cope with migraine in just about every type of situation out there, and how others do it too. It is a great, great source of help and information.
Please keep us up to date on your situation.
YvetteK gave you good advice. She always have good advice. I do not have anything else to add at this time. Remember there are many people suffering in silence like you. You are not alone. You are in my prayers.
I agree with YvetteK and think a headache specialist is the way to go! Keep pushing for your own health!!
Having been at this for over 20 years, believe me that I understand how discouraging it gets at times. I understand having to cancel appts and social events over and over til friends just don't ask you anymore. Just explain exactly what you go thru and the really good friends will understand.
As far as work goes. I kept a job for as long as I possibly could and then went on SSDI. Even kept my blue cross blue shield insurance til Obama care marketplace forced me to take Medicare by refusing to give me the discount making private insurance way too expensive.
Anyway, that's all I have. Bless your heart for having to deal with this monster at such a young and important age. Just keep getting up everyday and doing the best you can, find a good doctor and try everything possible. Something will work for you, it's just finding out what that is. Best of luck to you.
