Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

Neck & shoulder pain can be a main cause of bad headaches and migraines.

Oh, definitely. Sometimes it triggers my migraines and sometimes the migraines give me the neck pain.

OH DEFINITELY!!! Right along my hairline, usually, but oh yes I do. When I get the migraines, I always have that neck pain too! glad you brought that up!! HUGS!

I get it really bad and I take a muscle relaxer at the same time as my rescue med or else the pain won't go away. The tension can be really unbearable sometimes.

Yes I get neck pain along with headaches sometimes. Right now my neck is uncomfortable and I can't sleep plus headaches. Neck and back pain sucks.

Hi, I'm new. I'm having a horrible migraine right not and was actually wondering if others have the same neck pain as I do... so yeah. Thanks for bringing it up!!

Yes!!!! It seems like my neck and shoulder get really tight when i overdo it and then boing!!!! Terrible migraine.

sometimes my head feels so heavy I feel like I can't hold it up my neck and shoulders hurt, ice pack on the back of the neck sometimes helps. I take darvocet with ibuprofen and ativan the ativan seems to work better for me than a muscle relaxer....hope you feel better...Gator

Yes, I do get neck/shoulder pain along with the migraines. It is the old question of 'which came first, the chicken or the egg?'. Or better stated; 'which came first, the neck pain or the migraine?'. Either way, physical therapy can be helpful for both cervical and migraine pain. PT might be worth a try.
