Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Are you seeing a neurologist?
What type of painkillers are you using?
I was on birth control pills to help with acne a few years ago. Depending on what type of migrane you have it is best to get off them if you are getting migranes with aura (where you see fuzzy out your eyes) as it can cause you to have a stroke. There is one pill which people with migranes can go on which is where you then have no periods at all. But i'm sorry i cannot remember the name but ask your GP. Hope you get it sorted :) x
Well the first pill I took for 6 years was called Diane35 and it NEVER gave me migrains or any type of headaches.. it's since I left it and switched to others that I am currently having them.
I haven't seen a neurologist yet, because its kinda expensive, and the pharmacist I talked to said that migrains have no cure and I have to deal with it ... :(
I usually take ibuprofen only, but most of the times i take nothing, because it really doesnt help at all...
You need to work with your Ob-gyn on this. I knew that I could not go on a BC pill that had estrogen in it because every female in my family has a sensetivity to estrogen. It just intensified their migraines. My ob-gyn suggested that I try a progesterone only BC that would stop my period completely, thus it would stop the hormone flux. I ended up on the Depo-Prova injection, and within the first few months, my hormonal migraines disappeared.
Some women are sensitive to estrogen, others are sensitive to progesterone. I would talk to your ob-gyn and see what they think are your options. Ask about progesterone only. There are a few different ones out there. There is the shot, an IUD, and in implant. It may help you like it did me.
Good luck
