Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Have you tried any of the triptans when your headache first starts? Is this the only drug the doctor has you on?
I know more people will have some advice for you. Good luck.
Sorry about the bad migraines!
About 1 yr. ago, I was in a similar boat.
I learned to keep a daily journal, i still do, of what I eat, do, sleep, if Headaches, how bad, symptoms, what helps, what makes them worse.
Good luck with the MRI.
Once they rule out a "mechanical problem", do you see a Headache specialist? who gives you Verapamil? It is trial and error to see what helps you.
The docs will try to keep the migraines away (preventative meds) and also talk about treating the migraine/headache as soon as it starts (they climb FAST).
Please remember you are important! If people or family can help, let them or ask. Hopefully you can get these under control.
Mine started bad last year but are more manageable this year.
Not perfect.
Hugs,
Carol
