Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I have had times in my life where my emotions got to a point where a migraine was triggered. I consider that a type of stress. But for me that's very rare. Just about everything else though will give me one. It all sucks.
(Also didn't really mean to go into such details that were probably really not necessary, sorry.)
I'm getting one right now....it's at about a 6, and it's growing....It's going to be bad. I have NO idea what brought it on. Anyway, you are not alone in this. Just feel free to post or vent anytime :)
I've previously noticed that intense emotional experiences, and/or the withholding ("repressing") of intense emotions, can trigger a migraine for me.
I've also noticed the importance of good breathing, and how I tend to constrict or breathe shallowly when extremely upset, crying, etc.
My primary doctor suggested a more "natural," possible preventative: taking 200-500mg each of Magnesium and Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) every night. These supplements may not get rid of a migraine, but they may be able to help prevent or ward them off. I think this combo has been helping me, which is why I'm mentioning it.
Good luck!!
