Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
If you have to throw up, let it happen. (Don't force it, but you might not want to fight it so much.) Sometimes, if we're really lucky, the migraine starts going away after you start throwing up.
If you do start throwing up, make sure you start drinking to replace the fluid. Dehydration can prolong migraines and makes you more sensitive to pain and more nauseous.
If you have Aleve in the house, take two.
You can also try taking an allergy med like Benadryl. Besides helping with the histamine reaction that might be going on it can help you fall asleep. Sometimes sleeping it off is all we can do.
Get an ice pack, put it on the back of your neck.
Or, if you can stand the sensation - take ice and rub it directly over the side of your head that hurts, and keep rubbing for 10 minutes. No more than 10 minutes. (You can only do this once every two hours).
Cold packs and heat packs help as well.
For cold pack you can get a few wasrags wet with cold water and frezze em in the freezer, take em out and hold em to your head, hot pack done the same way only with warm water and a min or 2 in the microwave.check it before applying to your head so it isn't to hot.
Celtic was also right, replace the fluids, drink gatorade or even pedialite, it helps restore the eletrolights in your system and rehydrate you.
Hope this helps
