Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Do you get auras? Those are so special and distinctive, I don't think those can be caused by anything else. Mine are a shimmering circle of obscured vision that starts in the center and slowly expands until it disappears at the edges of my vision...very creepy stuff. You can also get colored lights, for me they look like LED's going on, then off.
Also migraines are often accompanied by nausea...I hate that part.
I've had migraines that lasted for weeks. I kept on, went to work and all that...but I wasn't good for much. I just did the best I could with things. My aunts used to get migraines a lot too.
I actually argued with the neuro about it being a migraine yrs ago because I lacked the light sensitivity, nausea, sound sensitivity. but he's the doc so i listened to him.
When I try to lay down right now my head feels like it's on concrete. there's also a sense of tightness. i dunno.
I am curious if your screen name is Sleepy Star because you are sleepy all the time, have generalized fatigue or insomnia?
Do you clench or grind your teeth?
Do your jaws pop and click when you open wide?
The reason I ask is becuase these are all symptoms (along with ear problems and migraines) of Tempromandibular Disorder or TMD, often called TMJ.
If you have a "Bad Bite", your teeth could force your lower jaw backwards when you bite together. This causes the muscles that attach to the lower jaw to spasm which you can feel as a Migraine.
Here is a youtube video i made for my patients who suffer from Migraines, Headaches, Daytime Sleepiness and Ear problems due to having a Bad Bite:

I have narcolepsy with mild cataplexy as well as an arrhythmia.
I have had TMJ problems in the past where my jaw basicly locked shut for about 2 weeks. If I eat anything that is too crunchy or chewy my jaw will begin to ache. I am a teeth clencher when stressed.
My bite isn't too bad, I've had dental work growing up that addressed a significant overbite as well as crooked teeth.
Thanks for the link :)
