Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
MILK was meant to be a food, the PERFECT food, given ONLY by an animal's OWN mother, only the milk of that infant's own species, for a length of time during infancy and childhood, as the main form of food, until the Immune and Digestive Systems were more mature. It was not meant to be drunk in adult hood, and the milk of OTHER mammals was never intended by man or God. (Sorry, this thing is one of my.......things. Cow Milk. Disgusting. Dangerous. Dirty, Downright nasty.)
Cow Milk is one of the most allergenic substances known to humans. There is NO benefit to one's health for eating Dairy in ANY source (that includes yogurt, it is NOT a "magic food" it is just soured COW milk, with some "beneficial" bacteria added. Most of the bacteria is killed off by your digestive tract and it's acidity in the upper GI system, anyway. "Good" bacteria can be obtained, and in a form which your body can use, in Enteric Coated Probiotic capsules, made from a Non Dairy source. Yogurt is not a "health food" as long as it is made with the milk of a Bovine animal.)
I gave up dairy more than 20 years ago. (Yeah, I loved it, too. But, it made me terribly sick and I had the understanding to realize it while still young.) I had horrible GI symptoms, and I found that most of my other respiratory allergies decreased significantly within a year of totally eliminating Dairy. I don't give dairy of ANY type to my children (although sometimes they choose to eat Pizza, and then they get sick and always wonder why) they never had it has babies or children and I think they are much healthier for it. In fact our Pediatrician recommends NO cow milk at all for her patients. (The entire practice strongly recommends HUMAN milk for young human children, and then, after weaning, mostly water to drink, with the occasional cup of soy milk or watered down juice.) There is NOTHING in Cow Milk that cannot be obtained and better used by the body in much more healthy foods.
Dan, many people find that foods they are allergic or intolerant to trigger allergies, so this may be why. Also, the strengthening of your immune system, when you eliminated this most unhealthy "food" may have also been one reason why you feel better.
It takes at least 4 weeks, in some people longer, for Bovine Milk Proteins to leave your system, so you will continue to feel better as long as you stay off the "white crap.: There are plenty of soy, rice, almond and even coconut "milk" substitutes which are better for you, don't cause the destruction of baby cows, and will not attack your GI and immune system like Cow Milk does. (Also the fact that this most resistant protiens tend to take a VERY long time to leave the human body, tends to make people who eliminate dairy for "a few days" or who cheat regularly (there was nothing else to eat!) find that "it didn't help." Whereas if they had completely eliminated this stuff, didn't cheat, and left their bodies to heal for at LEAST a month and a half before judging, they would have been much better off.
You may find that if you have any nasal or respiratory allergies, after about 6 months to a year, as your body heals from the assault of the food meant for baby cows declines in your body, your other allergies may improve. Most people also find after about a month or 2 with no Dairy, their GI system works much better, and is healthier.
I think it is great that you made this leap to find better health. I really wish more people would.
One of my pet peeves is people who say "Oh, I am not allergic to dairy. And I could never give up my Ice Cream anyway." When and if these people, particularly were to give Cow Boob Fluid Free Life a try (at least 6 weeks with NO cheating) they would find they ARE sensitive to Dairy, and would be amazed at how much better they feel. No, it won't cure ALL ills, obviously. But, I think especially those of us with other health problems, WHY insult our bodies with such a disgusting substance as the hormone laced, dirty, completely bio-incompatible "Milk." Why make things worse than they are?
Good work, Dan. Keep off the "white stuff."
I myself have tried going dairy free for extended periods of time and then have reintroduced it back into my diet. I don't find I notice any difference one way or another.
My husband however finds he feels very sluggish following the ingestion of any type of dairy product.
Personally I could live forever without dairy with the exception of cheese. I do love a good cheese. Sometime I buy an old English cheddar which has wine infused into it....mmmm.
I have heard a lot about how cow milk can cause issues with respiratory systems and allergies. My son is actually lactose intolerant. However I had thought to be honest with you that the banning of dairy products was another one of those, "fads", instigated by those people who follow natural health trends.
So out of curiosity, recalling that you are a nurse I was wondering if there has been scientific studies done to support your perspective on dairy. I am very interested in your response. Take care Kelley
There is plenty of research about the dangers of dairy. (I will look some up, later, having a bad day, aura is so bad, I can't see the screen well, so I am not going to do it now.)
Yes, I AM very outright in my opinions. :) I don't pull punches. Several decades in Chronic Pain has robbed me of the ability and the desire to curb my thoughts. :)
If one looks at it logically NO other animal will EVER drink the milk of an other animal, unless it is offered to that animal BY a Human. Most of the world is either Dairy or Lactose Intolerant. The Proteins in Cow Milk are ONLY MEANT to be consumed by baby cows. Think how people react when they even SEE a container of human milk! Outright disgust (But, WHY? That is the milk that ALL of us should have been given as babies and small children, Yet it is not a food for adults.) Yet, most Westerners have no problem drinking the Milk of a Cow they never even met.
Just the "this was meant for the consumption by the infant of an other species" thing alone, I think, about sums it up.
When I am better, if you want, I can find quite a few studies which attest to the unsuitability of humans consuming the MILK of other animals (or even the milk of our own species, meant for small children, until their immune and digestive systems mature.)
So I am somewhat educated as to the, "alternative", side of things but have not researched the medical opinion about dairy. I'm certainly aware of the benefits of human breast milk and can see the logic in milk being meant for the baby of a specific species.
I am a very outspoken person myself and I was perfectly serious when I say I admire it. I find so many people beat around the bush and talk in circles to the point where I lose track of what they are saying. I find doctors often guilty of this, they like to soft shoe so much. I hope I did not offend you in mentioning it. Take care, I hope your headache leaves soon Kelley
It took me nearly two years to get completely off of it and I only did it because both my oldest children would get SO sick from the Dairy Proteins which got though to MY milk, that I finally MADE myself quit. I did it for about a year, when I realized the oldest one was allergic, then she weaned and I started it again WHILE I was pregnant with the second, she also reacted to dairy, so I quit for good, because of he, and because my OWN GI health was SO awful I was actually getting nutritional deficiencies because of what the Dairy was doing to my gut. (damage, bleeding, not absorbing nutrients etc)
Kelly, I am glad you feel that way. You always know what you get with me. My Lactation Clients are NEVER subjected to pulled punches, I always say what I mean. :) A few of them have told me "When I first met you, I thought you were kind of a loud mouth or a nut. But, a lot of the time, the stuff you told me was stuff I NEEDED to hear, but didn't WANT to hear, and nobody else would stop "playing nice" long enough to actually TELL me.:" That, or they hang up on me during the first phone consult..... LOL!
I find that ice cream is a trigger for me, so I haven't had any in quite some time now. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE ice cream, and have had many people say to me, "I could never give it up." But somehow the choice between ice cream and a terrible headache is an easy one for me. ;o) That and gastrointestinal distress...
Cheese has been a difficult thing to give up. I can't say it causes headaches for me. I've dramatically cut down the amount of cheese I eat anyway.
