Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

First, I was pretty shocked. I'm on disability for my migraines, so I'm on federal insurance.I knew that put me at a disadvantace already. At my headache center, my doctor told me that many of their patients have already been denied and are in the appeals process for the drug.

I received my first free injections at my doctor's office, and had my second round of free injections sent to my home, but then I got a letter from my insurance company stating that a review of my medical records and information from my doctor automatically qualified me to be covered.

I'm over the moon. This could finally be the medication that fixes everything for me ::::crossing fingers:::::

The expense is not as bad as it could be. For me it'll be about $200/month for 2 injections.

@thelmanlouise- thank you! Yes, even if it lessened my migraines by 25-50% I would be happy. Anything is better than every single day.

I just hope that others in this group who struggle without relief will have serious conversations with their neurologists and TRY to get them to go to bat for them for this drug. This really could be a game changer for so many.

So while visiting my headache specialist yesterday, we discussed my migraines have decreased 30% last month since starting Aimovig 140mg. Not a bad start.
I can administer my own doses this month (I’m due on 9/21 ). Excited about that..
I’m still getting some migraines that are sending me to bed. I will run with 30% better
For now. He also informed me of a new CGRP coming out Sunday 9/16/18.
Fremanezumab made by the company Teva. They are Subcutaneous injections
Monthly for retractable migraines or cluster headaches. We just talked a little about
It because he keeps up on everything. Thought you might want to know.
Any idea when you start the Aimovig Yvette? Hopefully soon.

I actually took my second dose of 140mg on September 6th. I honestly can't give you any type of update because I have been sick for an entire month now with some kind of virus, and have had a fever for a month straight. Every time I get sick, my head is the first place to feel it. My head feels like it's going to explode like a bomb.

@thelmanlouise-I'm really happy for you. 30% reduction after the first injection is great. I hope it gets even better next time.

I promise...once I'm over my illness, I'll give you a real update on how this medicine is working for me. I have a good feeling about this.
