Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I'm so sorry for your pain and for being made to feel like an inconvenience. Practice selfcare. And good luck with the nuerologist! Hope they find something to help u soon.
Warm gentle hugs
I do understand the school/work situation. I suffered through school, and work was very difficult. I'm finally on disability because the headaches are just nonstop for me now. I will not apologize for how I feel. But as I said, that is just me personally. I would never suggest that others should feel the same. I did enough apologizing in the past. I just won't do it anymore.
Unfortunately people just don't understand when your in that kind of pain. Wishing you the best.
I think lack of understanding often stems from ignorance-you would be surprised how many people still think migraines are just bad headaches that people should be able to push through.
Yvette, Lynn, I feel you. I made this post mainly because I was frustrated by professors at school. I don't really care if they understand, except that if they did I wouldn't be essentially begging them not to lower my grade because I have technically violated the attendance policy on the syllabus-despite the fact that I am keeping up. Its less that I care what they think and more that they actually do have power over me. I'm hoping a note from my Neuro corroborating what I have been telling them about having an ongoing health issue will help.
One of the biggest mistakes I made while in college was going off all of my medication during finals week. I had just been to a new headache specialist, and he wanted me to go off all my pain medicine ASAP. I didn't realize how bad it was going to be, and it happened to be the week of my finals. I failed every single one of them. My eyesight was so bad, I couldn't even read the instructions nor any of the questions. I SHOULD have had documentation from the doctor, but I just blew it off.
Even if you don't have to use it, it's better to have the documentaion in case you do need it at some point.
IfYouCould, maybe you can show this to your sister...it is a pretty good basic list of misconceptions about migraine. I love this, I put it on my facebook lol
