I didn't get addicted to it but it caused terrible rebound headaches for me no matter how many times we tried it for my migraines. I wouldn't take it for that reason. Can't you take Fiorcet? I don't have any rebound with this medication. In fact Webmd said to take 800 mg of Advill, 2 Tylenol, and a cup of black coffee to stop a migraine. That is the same as the Fiorcet without the narcotic. It has worked for me to stop a migraine right at the beginning. I was on it many years ago for migraines before when my primary care doctor was treating me. He would have me take 50 mg. of Imitrex and one Hydrocodone. I only took the Hydocodone when I was working, so that the migraine PAIN would be more bearable and I could keep working and not lose my job. I had to draft documents for my boss and the migraines would start to impact my memory.

It is definitely an addicting med, but I did not get addicted to it. I didn't use it at home and only when I worked. I had to keep crackers in my desk and take crackers when I took just one pill otherwise you're at more risk of vomiting. And drink lots of water when you take it because you want to give lots of water for your stomach with it to dissolve.

I have tried lots of migraine meds and they all either work and my insurance won't pay anymore, or they don't work at all. Excedrin was my go to for a couple years until recently when it started causing rebound migraines, When I was first diagnosed, I was put on Immetrex. It worked great for a year then Medicaid made me switch to the generic, The generic made me light-headed. Noratriptan did nothing for me. Neither did Gabapentin. I was on another migraine medicine that I can't remember the name of. That did nothing for me either. The last one that worked for me was Maxalt, but of course of it works, Medicaid doesn't like to pay for it.

I'm not a coffee person, but I'll try the Advil and Tylenol thing with pop. I've tried each of those individually with no luck. But I've never tried them together. I'm at the point where if I could I'd stand on my head to make these horrible things go away.

Medicaid doesn't like to prescribe brand names.

For a long time I have been on the generic Imitrex (Sumatriptan tablets 100 mg.) by Teva. When they are finished, I will be using Sumatriptan tablets by Aurobindo.

I haven't had a problem with the Teva tablets. Did you note the manufacturer. My neurologist explained to me that the generics are different in the bindings used on them. So some can dissolve more slowly and others more quickly so it can make a difference for some people in all different areas of generic meds. So it may be that the generic you had dissolved way too quickly and too fast making you too dizzy. Just thinking out loud.

Hydrocodone is the generic name for Vicodin. It is relatively weak and I would not worry about becoming addicted. You might also try taking one hydrocodone with one Excedrin.

I have to disagree with daninflorida vicodin id a highly addictive medication, my daughter fractured her back and was on this for her pain she got addicted and then moved on to other drugs. I take it for some autoimmune disorders that I have and have to be very careful taking it, also it does nothing for my migraines I take immetrex when I get one. Please be careful!

I'm currently taking it for some other reasons as well and I have to agree with daninflorida, it is weak, but it also depends on the dosage. I usually take one hydrocodone and ibuprofen to help me through the day when I need it.
