Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Botox for migraines is different than the botox for beauty so don't think of it that way. It's time to talk with a neurologist about this.
my doctor put me on amitryptaline (not sure I spelled that correctly), it is a light anti-depressant, it made a HUGE difference in the number of migraines I was getting, and in my case put me on the road to figuring out I had GAD, especially after I had children. I have tried almost everything for my migraines, including sinus surgery (huge mistake!!). Hope that helps!
I'm having a hard time right now (in life), therefore I'm experincing about 16 migraines per month.
This is the medication I am on: Topamax, Flexeril, Prozac, Buspar, Trazodone, BOTOX, Trigger Point injections and when the migraine hits: Fioricet, Maxalt, Imitrex Injection and sometimes Norco.
My Doctors have suggested I change jobs, go on disability, see a therapist (Ihave), see a different type of Therapist, try accupuncture, meditate (I learned how), exercise, change my life style.
My Insurance company does cover BOTOX. It is now FDA approved for migraines. I have been getting the injections for 5 years. It does not keep me from getting the migraine, but it does keep the pain intensity down/managable.
I have no advice really. I just wanted to write and let you know that you are not alone!!!
BIG HUGS
Sometimes when a headache won't break I get a Tordal shot with an Imitrex shot. Some other things I've tried is wrapping my head in ice or putting heat on my neck an upper back. I also take vitamins B12, magnesium, and CoQ10 everyday.
What you need to do is take care of you for once. I know that is hard to do. I wish you all the best with your situation.
Hard love here, but your husband has to take care of his health issues so you can deal with yours. Or, stay the hell away from you. Make boundaries. I've had to do this, time and time again. At work, ask yourself how much you are really responsible for.....and stick to it. Don't take on more than is yours. Draw lines for yourself.
Easier said than done. Botox has helped me to break cycles and occassionally I take Ativan at night to get me a deep relaxation that I really need.
Best of luck to you.
