Head Ache

I am 36 years old and have had a headache for 3 weeks now, I am on Prozac 20mg and Atenolol 75mg and my doctor said to try the saline sinus flush, it helps a little and then I was told to try alka seltzer and it helps some too but the headache comes back, should I call my doctor back and ask for something, I hate to take more med's but I am not enjoying life AT ALL, I am at my end of the rope? Is their med's to get rid of these headaches?

what kind of doctor are you seeing? in my opinion you should call. i'll swallow a boatload of meds (and I do) rather than put up with constant headaches.

He is just a family doctor, I will end up calling him tomorrow, thanks, what is a good med for headaches?

Excedrin, just the extra strength it has the same ingredients as the "migrane" one and you can also get the genaric one at walmart, much cheaper for more pills. I have chronic migrane headaches, and i go through the 500 pack in like a month. Good Luck!!

The Excedrin will raise your blood pressure so don't abuse it. My DR took me off the OTC Migraine pills for that reason. I am on 2 dif meds for them now. They help but have not found anything that kills them. I used to hide under blankets to get darkness for 24-48 hrs at a time.

Yeah it raised my bp and the head ache was still there!

I am SOOOO frustrated with so many of you that will over medicate with over the counter medication. They can have devastating health implications just like perscription meds. Getting a compitent MD to perscribe appropriate perscription medication for your specific problem makes so much more sense.
You won't become a druggie just because you are taking a perscription. The goal is to feel good and be functional. Take a perscription and get on with living!
Sorry to vent here, but I depend on perscription meds to get through most of the week. I am not an out of control druggie, rather , an "in control" educated consumer.
