Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

I feel really bad when people in this group post, and they are about to give up, and the only person they have been seeing is a neurologist. My #1 recommendation is to go on the internet and find a HEADACHE SPECIALIST! Find a headache clinic. Just find a place that specializes in headaches. Some may have to travel a bit, but it is so, so worth it.
I'm on a plethora of preventatives and abortives (I think 9 in total) that I know for a fact no neurologist would ever put me on because they just don't know enough about the medication and how they work for migraine.
I hope everyone has a better 2016, with less migraine pain. Happy holidays, and happy New Year!
Thanks for all your help Yvette! I appreciate it!

I do the best that I can just from my own personal struggles with this ailment. I've been to the PCP's that "supposedly" specialized in headaches. He just ended up putting me on more and more vicodan.Actually I think it was percocet or percadan. So. the I went to a headache specialist, but only to find out that he was stealing money from the university he was a dean at. So he wasn't so good.
I finally found the right doctor and the right hospital, and I have learned so much. I just want people to know that you may have to go through some bad doctors to get to the right one, but just don't give up.
