Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
If you are getting daily headaches, I'm assuming you are taking your medicine, daily. That's the problem. They are not meant to be taken daily. Ideally, Rescue meds and painkillers (even OTC NSAIDS like naproxen) should only be taken 2x per week. Any more than that, and you can get into rebound headaches, which IMO are more painful than the original migraine you were trying to get rid of in the first place.
People who get migraines are very prone to rebound headaches. And they happen with overuse of medication. Overuse of Relax and naproxen will definitely do that to you. The compazine and benedryl should not. I know it sounds horrible, because who would suggest this, but you have to stop taking your rescue meds to get out of your pain cycle. it will be really painful, but that's the only way to break it. You can call your doctor and see if you can get steroids to help break the cycle. Steroids are great to get out of a bad migraine cycle. I would highly, highly suggest calling about that. But in the mean time, don't take any pain medicine. Use compazine, benadryl, and ice to get through.
