Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

My suggestion is to see your OB/GYN and discuss this problem and ask about the different ways of cessation of periods because the problem occurs during periods. Ask the OB/GYN if it would keep the estrogen levels still up, but stop your period in order to try to stop the menstrual migraines.
I think your male doctor may want to treat the migraines, but I'm wondering if you talk with an OB/GYN if you can solve them by treating your period. I suffer with migraines and I have a hysterectomy. If I could try a simply solution such as stopping a period or only having my period once a year or twice a year and that helped stop the migraines, I would jump on it. Good luck.
I did talk to my ob/gyn about it, and she put me on the depo provera shot, which stopped my period altogether. That was the best thing I could have done.
I still have migraine, which I see a headache specialist for, but I don't have the hormonal migraines anymore.
Good luck to you!
Good luck with all this - it doesn't seem an easy thing to fix.
