Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
As for the comments, I think I've just learned not to say anything to anyone other than my family. Migraines run in my family, so they all get it. Otherwise, other people see it in my eyes. I don't have to say anything. If you think about it like this, that others are just ignorant. Ignorant in literal sense.....they just don't know what a migraine is. And ignorant in the other sense, they are just not compassionate. You are letting ignorant people get to you and make you upset. They are what I call energy vampires. Don't let them suck your emotions like that. I'm sure you have more important things and people to use your energy for.
At least, that is how I try to look at it. Someone like that just isn't worth the time. You know, you could always take the person aside, explain why what they said was hurtful, but how many people will really absorb that information? Not many. You know you are better than that. Just believe in that and everything else just minor bs.
I stopped working 12 years ago when I was getting migraines to the point where I had to take meds at work and would get a foggy brain. At that time I was a paralegal and my work needed to be pretty much perfect. I never applied for disability, I probably should have applied.
I just can't see working and not be able to do my duties when a migraine comes on. Then others have to fill in, probably resentfully.
