Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

Tell us about your personal experience with Asprin as a treatment: Has it worked? Have you had any issues? Any recommendations or tips?

i used to try to medicate migraines with otc painkillers but it didn't take long to figure out that those don't even touch the pain for me. perhaps in large enough doses they would, but thats kind of dangerous to your body.

I'm on 325mg of aspirin daily for my basilar artery migraines.I thought it was to thin my blood as these type of migraines can lead to stroke. they don't really keep the migraines at bay.

Aspirin/Advil/Tylenol/Excedrin - nothing touches my migraine. I used to be able to get something called Syndol over the counter in England but I can't get it here because it contains Codeine.

Excedrin works most of the time. I am really lucky. Sometimes they last for a week, but not very severe for most of it. Thank goodness!

asprin doesnt seem to touch my migrains. All i can do when one hits is lie in a dark bedroom with a cold compress over my eyes and pray tis episode will be short!

I get migraines some weeks every day! With severe migraines that make me puke a couple times a month, (I seem to have always had migraines) and I also take Excedrin Migraine Extra Strength AT FIRST ONSET OF MIGRAINE! If the migraine progresses to upset stomach then nothing helps and I just wait to puke or fall asleep/pass out! I do find though that sometimes the caffeine in the Excedrin Migraine or Excedrin Migraine Extra Strength makes me a little too hyper and dizzy! But heck, if it is something that works at the onset of the migraine then I will take the occasional dizziness! Not like I'm not dizzy most times anyway! HA!

But yeah, the FDA made Excedrin Migraine and the extra strength variety as the only over the counter medicine for migraines! It's also the only drug I read that has the highest allowable dosage of painkillers of any OTC medicine out there!

P.S...Any other OTC other then Excedrin for me is like putting a band-aid on cancer!
