Has anyone thought of or had botox injections for their migraines? I heard the FDA approved it for them. I react so badly to so many things, I'd be afraid to have it in me. Once injected it's there. And the possible side effects. I believe it would paralyze the nerves. Just wondering.

I've had botox for cosmetic reasons and i got far less headaches while it was effective. In fact I'm almost convinced that if they targeted the right areas i could be pain free almost for six months
I think one should try it and see if it is an alternative and beneficial.
Hell, we've all considered the cheap treatment of a 9mm or popular size bullet before if you've had them severe enough

I wanted to add that I havent had it in 3 yrs because of the high cost. If the insurance companies would realize that it's beneficial and pay for it they would probably save more money. The retail cost of 12 Imitrex injections is about $1200 with no insurance. That is 12 treatments for relief. It's usually about $800 for me for six months. Far less expensive and longer lasting. Anyone agree? If after multiple Neurologists seen and the last one telling you there may not be anything she can do for you. You'll take risks.

I had 16 injections of Botox 2 Wednesdays ago. It is still "working" I have stopped having "little" headaches and my forehead is completely smooth. Cost wise it was $1531.00 but compared to weekly ER trips.....I feel this was well worth it. Dr said it would take up to 4 weeks to work....We shall see

It helps because it relaxes the cranial muscles but it doesn't cure migraines. I have had it and if I could afford it I would do it regularly because I would do anything and everything to make things better for me to not get migraines.
