Hi, I'm Jen and I am a recovering meth addict. Is your son in any kind of treatment program? Therapy? Narcotics Anonymous? Celebrate Recovery? I ask those questions because addiction is a disease and in order to properly treat that disease we addicts need fellowship and a program to follow.....not saying that an addict can't get clean on their own, but staying clean (in my experience) is impossible without "something else" to guide us.
Meth is a tricky tricky drug. It can take 18 months for your brain to fully "repair" itself, and sometimes the drug can cause permanent damage....and I don't say that to discourage you. It is simply the hard truth.
I have found keeping a daily journal is very helpful in keeping me focused. Since he is so new into being clean, a daily schedule may help too.
I am praying for both you and your son. Addiction is a life long disease that can not be cured, but there is life to be lived. :)

Im new here my brother is also on meth and has been using going on 4 yrs now. My uncle, cousin and his gf introduced him to it. He's 32 had a job ppl envied an money saved they latched onto him. He's a pleaser an will give anyone the shirt off his back. Im 10 yrs older than him an I helped my parents raise him. He says he hasnt touched meth in 8 months rxcept twice he slipped up. Yet his dr has him on suboxone and adderall. My parent's had him tested 4xs as a child for adhd/add an he did not have it. Yet this pill pushing dr gave it to him anyway. He will pop 8 adds at a time, steals my parents pain meds, xanax an he's even take my bp med an brought it back cause he said he thought they were muscle relaxers!! He's very AGGRESSIVE towards myself and my husband. We've helped him and his gf pay bills, gave them money to fix there car you name it weve helped them. Yet he has singled out my husband an I. I don't know how to deal with him so I've had the cops tell him twice now to stay away from my house. Yet tonight I found them trying to steal my husband's speakers. We live on family owned property so the cops can only tell them to stsy on there side yet he will NOT. We dont seek them out, speak to them, and do our best to svoid any confrontation yet he still manages to start bs. What do I do?! I love my brother but I can not handle these crazy highs an lows he has and his gf is like a pit viper and he feeds off her lies! My grandson an pregnant daughter live with us and I'm scared for there safety. We just built a house here so moving isnt an option. I know until he sees he needs help no one can help him but what do we do in the mean time? My nerves are shot ...please help any and all advice will be appreciated.

First thing you need to do is set up security cameras all around your property and house! Second thing is stop helping him and his girlfriend! Stop engaging him just let him know y'all love him and whenever he decides to get help y'all will be there till then he's completely on his own and not allowed around your place.

He should be passed the worst physical symptoms now but the psychological ones can take a long time to heal, especially if he isn't seeking some type of treatment program. You can help by encouraging him and letting him know that you are proud of him getting clean. Best of luck
