Meth Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Methamphetamine is a synthetic stimulant drug used for both medicinal and recreational purposes. Methamphetamine is highly psychologically addictive. Like most stimulants, large doses of methamphetamine can result in a strong feeling of euphoria at the expense of physical fatigue and a strong "come-down" as the drug's effect wears off.
I really REALLY need some advice and input n this
shyloner
A quick summery, this is my roommate that I was somewhat involved with (dating.. sort of, its a long story). She has a meth addiction that I didn't know until about a month ago (roughly a month after our sexual relationship came t a stop), I thought she quit and I even helped her get her kids back from her ex who sort of kidnapped them but now this keeps coming up. Any input within the next 24 hours would be really appreciated. This is in my journal too.
Dear ****
Look, you know I love and care a great deal about both you and the kids. I didn't want to have to put some distance here but if Ruben is back in the picture than its probably for the best. I'm sorry, nothing against either of you but that man is BAD NEWS.. This occurred to me a few days ago, before Ruben's name even came up and after you told me you were still using: It seems I've done my best, tried my best to help you out and even put off a lot of my own life to do it because I felt like I was doing the right thing and it seemed like things were finally looking up for you. Once you told me it just seemed like all the good I've tried to do was for nothing because you were just going to turn around and undo it anyways. If your going to continue to behave like this than I'm going to have to put some distance between us, I can't help anymore. I would have been willing to show up to that court case and appear as a witness but first off, you don't really seem all that interested in preparing for it and second, what good will it do? Even if you win, if you keep going on like this its all just going to happen again anyways. I'm a college student, I'm already struggling a lot to catch up in the stuff I've missed and, up until a few nights ago I really strongly believed that my appearance in that case would be beneficial, but it would mean missing a very important class (I've already emailed my teacher about it).
While I can honestly and sincerely say you are a great mother, you still need to start treating yourself a lot better. From what you've told me and from what I've heard, this man DOES NOT deserve you. He doesn't respect you at all. You can definitely do a lot better than him and the fact that you keep going back to him after all the shit he's put you through shows your lack of self-respect. I see no point in me putting off class time and studies going to court. While my appearance there would definitely help you a lot legally and it would help you keep the kids, ultimately your irresponsible use and lack of self-respect is just going to make it pretty meaningless.
There's a reason I was so supportive of you staying single and focusing on yourself. Right now is not the time to be in any relationships (for either of us, I have my own reasons for myself). You have two kids and a life to pick up! You need to get yourself cleaned up and start living again. This letter has nothing to do with jealousy, I know your going to pin that on me no matter what I say. So far, I've been nothing but supportive and to see you continually making harmful, irrational decisions like this is starting to make me feel maybe my involvement in any of this right now isn't the best thing for me. I've been trying to figure out where to draw the line between trying to help a friend and doing whats best for myself, I guess I found it... I actually had to talk to a few close friends about this to get a fresher perspective from people who aren't involved (two of them ex-users themselves). They all said pretty much the same thing.
We should talk about all this in person some day but first, get yourself cleaned up. It seems like we have a lot to discuss and right now, talking over any of it is kind of a waste of time unless your sober, cleaned up, and have actually started making positive, healthy decisions for yourself. If you ever really needed a good friend you know I'd be there for you but I can't continue to involve myself so heavily in this until you've started taking better care of yourself.

She found out today that she isn't officially and legally in the recovery program she thought she was in so she had to cancel the TRO I helped her file against her ex so she could get the kids back... If she had gone to the court date her ex would have definitely tried to use her drug use against her and she would have been put in jail... on the other hand though, cancelling it and not being in treatment just gives her another excuse to keep on using.
