Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

I HAVE TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST. HERE WE GO LADIES!!! I WENT TO MY INTERNALIST TODAY, WHICH I SEE MORE THAN MY GYN, AND I MENTIONED SOME SYMPTOMS THAT I AM HAVING WITH MY PERIMENO. I MENTIONED BIODENTICAL HORMONES FOR A POSSIBLE TREATMENT, AND HE REALLY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY SORT OF AN ANSWER. HE DID MENTION THE BLACK COHOSH, (SORRY FOR NOT KNOWING THE EXACT SPELLING). BUT I AM REALLY TAKEN BACK BY MY MALE PHYSICIANS MANNER ON ALL THIS. I HAVE A MALE GYN, DONT GET ME WRONG, THEY ARE BOTH SUPER NICE DR'S, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO HOW I FEEL I JUST DONT THINK THEY GET IT. HOW CAN THEY, EXCEPT FOR WHAT THEY HAVE STUDIED, AND LEARNED THRU THERE SCHOOLING. MY INTERNALIST IS DIVORCED, AND MY GYN HAS NEVER BEEN MARRIED. HELLO, ANYONE FEEL ME??? I DONT SEE HOW THEY CAN REALLY UNDERSTAND. THANKS FOR LISTENING. MAY YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY:)

I can understand. I think it is hard to find a dr., male or female, who really understands. My female dr. does not understand. She's in her early 50's and according to her, has not started menapause yet. But then again, she is cold hearted about everything :(

REALLY, I FEEL LIKE THEY PUT IT ON THE BACK BURNER. MY INTERNALIST IS MORE OCCUPIED BY MY CHOLESTEROL, THYROID,BLOOD SUGAR, HEART, ECT.... BUT PERIMENO CAN PLAY A BIG PART IN ALOT OF THESE. THEN MY GYN OFFERED ME LIST OF THINGS I COULD DO, BUT REALLY DIDN'T AVISE ME WHICH ONE HE THOUGHT WOULD BE BEST. SO HE GIVES ME VALIUM FOR MY ANXIETY. I DONT CARE FOR MEDS, BUT I AM REALLY LEANING TOWARD GETTING SOMETHING FOR MYSELF. ALL NATURAL PREFERABLY. THANKS FOR LISTENING:)

I went in for my 3 month checkup for fibro and broke down and asked for something for the meno. I go to a male dr and he was very understanding and sympathetic. He had me go down the street to the lab and have blood drawn to check for thyroid problems. Said they almost always have it back to him the same day if that is all they are checking for and since my appt was only set up for fibro, he apologized for not having enough time to spend with me today. I am going back in tomorrow morning and he said he would have some options ready to discuss with me then. He agrees HRT isn't the best way to go. So we will see what he has in store for me, I just have to make sure I can afford whatever it is. I know it is important to have your scripts but since we are on a budget with very little room to spare I have to try and get the ones I can get low cost at Kmart/Walmart.

JCR, I AM SO GALD YOU HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING DR. I ALREADY TAKE MEDS FOR THYROID, CHOLESTEROL, AND BLOOD PRESSURE, ALONG WITH AN ANTACID. SO WHEN I WANT TO HAVE MY INTERNALIST LISTEN TO MY SOBS ABOUT MENO, I WONDER IF HE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS, AND SO FAR HE SEEMS UNCONCERNED, AND THAT MAYBE BECAUSE HE KNOWS I HAVE A GYN. WHO'S TO KNOW. I HEAR YOU ON THE COST OF MEDS. BOY WHAT A RACKET. THESE PHARMASUDICALS (SP) HAVE US OVER A BARREL. THATS WHY I TRY MY BEST IF AT ALL POSSIBLE TO AVOID THEM. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR RESULTS:)
