Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
My Last period was March 20, 2013 went all the way without until February 2014 I started spotting so after the spotting in feb 2014 then I went without a period Till 2015 and started spotting for seven days then I made it till 2016 but this monthJune 2 I started heavy bleeding! Is it possible I haven't reached true menopause yet even though I'm 59?
Have you had a ultrasound of your uterus? I had abnormal bleeding after not bleeding for about 2 years and had an transvaginal ultrasound revealing a thickened endometrium. This a sign of uterine cancer and it makes you bleed and spot. I do not want to scare you but this should be checked out by a gynecologist.
I had 2 D/C's in about 3 years because of this "spotting" and at one point, very heavy bleeding. I am 58 and was about 56 at the time. They biopsy the uterine lining and make sure there is no sign of cancer.
Sometimes what makes us bleed are polyps. they are benign growths in the uterus. In my case, that's what I had. Also, you cannot be possibly ovulating at your age. Highly unlikely although in rare cases, these do happen.
I am not a doctor but I have learned from experience about the bleeding so I would see my doctor if this goes on. Once the lining is scraped, the bleeding will stop completely. You could an old buildup of blood.
Is the blood black or bright red?
So, just stay in touch with your gynecologist. ...let her/him be the one to tell you for sure. Try not to worry.
