Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

Hi Ladies, hope everyone is coping. I'm not sure if I have posted this question before but here it goes... Has anyone experienced stomach problems related to perimenopause? I never had stomach problems like these before. I've been in the pause for 2 years now and a couple of months ago I started having bloating, upset stomach....? I have read it is yet another crazy symptom of the pause....

I've read it's a complaint a lot of women have!! I know I have all kinds of digestive issues now! I really hate it.

I'm 54 and haven't had a period since 50. But off and on , I"ll get cramps like a period. It really bothers me and my doctor said I could get an ultrasound for it. But I never did. Then it went away again. But now I'm getting them back again. But if your bloating, I would tell your doctor. Don't want to scare you, but a friend of mine mother had bloating and stomach issues like flu symptoms and it was ovarian cancer. That has always scared me since it happened. I think my doctor thinks I'm a hypochondriac with all my questions to her. I would check it out with your doctor.

I am having some severe digestive problems too. At first it looked like gall stones but ultrasound and blood work came up negative. It was then thought I have ulcers but this does not feel like the ulcer I had before at all. I have been taking Prilosec for nearly a month now and it has done very little. I am going in for an endoscopy tomorrow to see whats down there. In a way I am hoping they find something and can fix it right then. If this is just menopause I quit right NOW! LOL There is bloating, dizziness, loss of appitite, fatigue, back and chest pain. Its crazy. However, I would wish this on my worst enemy ROFL

Yes, digestive problems can be part of menopause. I have had problems for months and just passed the year marker for menopause. It has been mostly burning stomach, pains in the abdomen, and indigestion. I've changed my diet quite a bit and just had a colonoscopy. I'm hoping this all will pass eventually. Trying to cut out wheat at this point to see if that helps. Tums bring relief, but am trying to avoid taking too many. At least we are not alone. Would like to hear from anyone else who has made it through this difficulty. Thanks!

I always had a weak stomach and when Menopause hit, things went way out of control, but thankfully was managed by Elavil 20mg. each evening. I had bloating and nausea and lost 20 pounds, but the med worked wonderfully. isabelle1954
