Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I have read that things like depression, anxiety and bipolar symptoms can worsen around meno if you already have them to begin with. I'm watching myself carefully for signs of depression, as I've had that before and have bipolar daughters, so I'm also watching for any manic symptoms (and have my daughters watching me for them too). I can imagine anxiety could be really bad; I'd hate to see my 20-something daughter when SHE hits meno!
Has anyone had any success with walking for exercise helping their mood? I'm not terribly motivated, but if it would improve my sleep it just might be worth it.
