Provera??

My gyn wants me to start on provera. I have never taken any form of hrt. I am supoose to take it for 10 days if I go 2 months without a period. The longest I have gone without one is 4 months. I would like to hear from anyone that has used this. I am all ears. Thanks!!

I have taken Provera in the past, and am sorry to say it didnt work for me.

I have never taken HRT either, but am just wondering why you are taking Provera ... I took it because I was bleeding heavily for long periods.

I "personally" didnt like the side effects. Get back to me if you wish any more information on how I am dealing with the Menopause, I may have a few ideas you havent used yet.

Angeleyezz, thank you for your reply. I was given provera to start my periods if I happen to go 2 mo without one. He wants me to take it for 10 days only and only if I skip my period. He said it will start my period for me. I just went 4 mo without one, and I hate to say I was feeling pretty good. Then I just had one in July. Now the hotflashes are coming back, along with the insomnia, and anxiety. I feel like not taking anything, and I may just do that:) I say let my body do its thing, and I will get thru this with my vitamins and exercise, and a very patient hubby, LOL!!! I am with you when it comes to any sort of side effects. Who needs them? NOT ME !!!

I am a bit puzzled?

You have been prescribed Provera to help your period come?

I take it you are going through the menopause, so missing a period is what you would expect, until they finally disappear. Is there some other reason you have been prescribed Provera?

You said you had 4 months without a period, I would say this was normal, as this is what happens. They come and go, get less frequent, then they finally stop.

The Provera is inducing you to have a period? Why?

As you said, the 4 months you didnt have your period, you felt better, I know it is great to finally get rid of them, and agree with you.

I had a small op called an Endometrial Ablation, 3 years ago, as I was continually bleeding and cramping. I havent had a period since, but do have PMT and the cramping the week before I would normally bleed.
