Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I know periods can be wacky during premenopause and I do have a gyn appointment on thursday, but I just want to see if anyone has experienced what Im going through. I still have regular periods (Im 54). This month I had normal bleeding for 5 days and after that Ive been spotting for 6 days (and counting). My question is the spotting part. I have a little blood on the toilet paper when I wipe, and in the toilet I see one or two little partials of blood. Is the partials of blood normal? Every time I have a abnormal period I freak out.
The spotting could be a sign of polyps or fibroid tumors which are almost always benign. I had walls of polyps and was spotting post-menopausally and had to have a D&C, but I doubt that is something you'd need at this point. They can check for polyps or fibroids. So have it checked out by the doctor and let us know how you are doing!
