Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

Hello. I have been reading up on Peruvian Maca for perimenopausal/menopause relief. It is a root that I'd like a radish. It is supposed to balance your hormones naturally. It is not plant hormones like soy. I am allergic to soy. Has anyone tried Maca for menopause symptoms? It is supposed to help. I am thinking of trying it but would like to hear if any of you have tried it & if you had success with it. Thank you.

Haven't heard is it available in u.s. ?

I will have to check the natural food store. If I try it I will let you know.

Yes, I believe it is available in the U.S. I have read don good things about it. My sister in law mentioned an herb called Damiana for menopause or hormone imbalance. Read just a bit on that one but has many helpful properties. Including easing anxiety.

I think I'll try looking into that as well. Didn't really have anxiety before menopause. Now it's almost everyday.

I had horrible anxiety for a week then it tapered off. But. I know once my cycle comes back around it will get worse again. I have read that many many women have anxiety with perimenopause/ menopause. It is such a bad feeling. Keep in touch about the Maca. Use Red Maca for perimenopausal/ menopause issues. Gelatinized Maca is best for women who have digestive issues as it is easier on the digestive system.

I'm just got info on the Maca. My friend is from Peru and says it's been a wonderful part of his life. He says men use it as viagra in Peru. He says Peruvians have been using it for years. They sell it at Sprouts he says. I'm definitely trying it tomorrow. He says it comes in powder that he puts on his fruit in the morning. He really loves it. He can't attest to the hot flash issue, but it's definitely worth the try for me since it's natural!!

Awesome! I am going to order some. I read that the best Maca for women's health is Red Maca & gelatinized Maca is best for people with digestive issues as it is easier on the digestive system. Keep in touch how it works for you.

Black cohosh stopped working for me so I tried Maca and it worked great for a long time (no hot flashes) but then after many months, it also stopped working. Then I tried a supplement from Vitamin from Vitamin shoppe called "Hot Flashes" and it worked for a few months, but now the hot flashes and night sweats are back. Looking for something new again.

I began using Maca in the hopes of finding some of my lost libido, and was happy to notice that it helped with my night sweats. I only get 2-3 a week now (I was showering at least once every night cause I was SOAKED through). However, I am not sleeping as well anymore, maybe 3-4 hours a night if I'm lucky, since I went on it. Not sure if it's related or not. It has helped with the libido for sure, I highly recommend it if, like me, you haven't been interested in sex at all for what seems like forever...

I tried Maca & unfortunately it gave me a horrible headache:-(
