Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

Good luck you will make it through this.
I try to sit and remind myself what is going on with my body, just try to accept it and ride it out and tell myself it will pass. That helps sometimes. Sometimes I get up and walk around or try to focus my brain on something like a puzzle. Sometimes just getting my brain unfocused on the fear/anxiety helps it to go away.
Worse case scenario I take a Xanax which is a Godsend and after 15 minutes or so really helps.
"Lims", thank you for reminding me of the "hystersister" site - I will definitely take a look at it -
"Kahlua", I think you're right about distracting oneself, because I have noticed that when I am busy with something on the computer, the overwhelmed, nervous feelings are more in the background. I'll try to find other ways to get my mind off the negative -
Thanks for your support, both of you -
Janet
I thank you again for your very encouraging message -

Don't try and stick it out in bed. I get up, take 1/2 a xannax or if it's too close to morning to do that- I turn on my heating pad and sit in the living room for a little while before going back to bed.
I wish you all the best
God bless all of you -

I wish you all the best!
I think that a lot of my anxiety comes from the fact that I have a history of panic disorder, and experienced a lot of intense panic and anxiety symptoms years ago, but medication got rid of them - so now, 15 years later, I am feeling some of what I experienced back then, when I was really sick, although it is only a fraction of the intensity I experienced years ago - so I am having a sort of "deja vu" experience. I have to allow myself to see that because I am having these milder symptoms, it doesn't mean I am going to return to the full-blown panic disorder I had years ago.
"RA", the station I was given by my friend was 96.7 FM, in the NYC/NJ area - can you let me know the "Star99" station number so I can find this on my radio, also? Thank you both so much -
Janet
