Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

anyone have this symptom? I have seen a few other people have with peri. I just want it to stop! It is crazy!
Tracy
Yep. It's almost like a nervous twitch. Irritating.
prayerwarrior
Does yours come and go?
Tracy
Yes. Sometimes a muscle will twitch just once or there will be a series of twitches. But it does just come & go. Just as I started to type this my thigh muscle twitches just once. I'm laying on the couch. So, I am relaxed & it had no reason to twitch. Weird stuff, our hormones.

Thanks Tracy. Sometimes my thigh will jerk while I'm driving. Scary!

I was having issues w this especially when trying to get to sleep. I discovered by accident that magnesium supplements helped improve this problem greatly. Try taking this w your calcium because it improves calcium absorption and see if things improve. Let me know how it goes.

Thank you tired3. I have recently started the mag. Some days the twitching is worse than others. I am kind of confused because my magnesium blood levels were normal. Even on the upper end of normal. The Epsom salt baths do seem to calm it down a bit.

Interesting. Maybe u do not have a magnesium defiency but I guess it won't hurt trying the supplements to see if things improve. Let me know how it goes. I never had my magnesium levels checked to confirm a deficiency. If the supplements help you. It may mean one of two things. Your normal levels is higher than most or your lab test results were not accurate. In any case I would run everything you are doing by your health care provider.

My left thigh started twitching about 5 months ago. At first I thought I had sciatica. About two weeks ago I started experiencing twitching and tingling in other places. It's only now I'm starting to think it has something to do with menopause. My question is 'how long will it last?'
prayerwarrior
I don't know how long it will last. Mine has definitely calmed down a lot. It comes and goes

How long have you had your twitching, prayerwarrior?
prayerwarrior
About 6-7 weeks

I've come to the conclusion that the twitching in my left thigh, which is constant, is to do with a pinched nerve. I've gone back to my massage therapist to see if he can fix it. My other twitches and tingling come and go; so far they are not bothering me too much. I think I freaked out my son a bit though when I showed him the twitch in my hand.

Just a thought, but I finally realized that I think mine was related to Ativan withdrawals. You don't happen to take anything like that to help you sleep do you?
