Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
If I find someone friendly, and I think they are in their 40's at least, I always sort of ease into the conversation. It's really quite easy. You can talk about makeup and skincare, the weather or dieting, and then ask "I have menopause, boy I'm suffering, are in you menopause yet?" I've never had a negative response. Women to women we WANT to feel we have "friends" going through this nightmare. People tell me about their weight gain, their HRT or no HRT, how they cry, how no one understands and how they think they are a "mental case." A lot complain about the doctors, feel there is no hope for them and some women will have it mildly, but there is always some issue that is affecting their lives no matter how little.
It really is not all that personal as someone would think. It's not like you're asking them about their sex life! LOL! that I should say has never entered into my "menopause conversation." I think that's alittle too much information, but you can ask about hot flashes, moods, weight gain, feeling just old and night sweats. The more you learn from others, the better you will feel especially when you get something freaky happening. You know you're not dying. When I first started feeling as horrible as I do sometimes still, I was sure I had cancer.
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a great day, filled with lots of joy and happiness
