It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

how would one know if they had their womb removed but not the ovaries if they are going through the menopause?. I have had hair thinning quite badly it's depressing along with dizzy spells racing heart and sudden hot sweats on cold days! New hair growth is very strange and very wiry and coarse. The doctors have not been helpful tested my thyroid and said it's ok. I am about to have some private blood tests done which will check the hormones as I am now convinced it could be the menopause. I am 44 years old so still young but would the partial hysterectomy done about 5 years ago bring this on sooner? Any advice is welcome. Thank you

I have also had a partial hysterectomy, due to other health issues, I needed to keep my ovaries. It has been over seven years for me. My general practitioner has kept a close eye on my hormone levels using a test called FSH, I believe. I am well into menopause now, without a single symptom, save vaginal dryness. I am relieved as my mother and sisters all went through menopause starting at 42 years and it was not pretty. I had a sarcoma of the uterus muscle, not your "typical" uterine cancer. Due to this type of cancer, hormone replacement therapy is not a treatment option for me. I would definitely talk to your gen/general practitioner to have a hormone screening test done, might give you some answers.

I paid privately to have bloods done today and I am due to see my doctor Tuesday - they have been a bit useless so far hence paying for my own tests. They checked thyroid but never once suggested it could be menopause - annoying

I have been dealing with these issues for several years even before I had my partial histo and in the past two years it had become unbearable. I have found solutions that work for me. First I started sleeping on a blowup mattress and have not had better sleep in years! We moved out room around so that my mattress was next to our bed. Because the air in the mattress is always cold I stopped waking up in a pool of sweat. To help with the hot flashes during the day and my depression I made two changes. First I have stopped eating meat (since so much of it has hormones that I need to avoid) and have based my diet on plant proteins. Second I started taking Menopause Support by now, which is a herbal supplement. It is crazy how after a few weeks I began to notice major changes. I swear by it.
