Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

I have lost 10 pounds in one month, not that I couldn't stand to lose a few, but I am not even trying and I am getting a little concerned. I know I feel like I have morning sickness many mornings and that is normal but I am forcing myself to eat. My anxiety level is higher than usuall, and I am not sleeping as well as I usually do. Anyone else having problems with weight loss?

I have been losing weight as well. I always try to lose weight but it just started coming off. Food does not taste as good to me as it used too. I think this is all a part of how our bodies are handling menopause. If you are concerned, I suggest seeing a Dr.

I had this problem also. There are medications that can increase your appetite.

My first thought - oh be quiet! Seriously, I do think it's how your body adjust to the change. Can I ask how old and where you are in the process? Estrogen is stored in fat cells, so it could be your body drawing estrogen from there. I also ask where you are with things because I'm struggling to lose weight (and anxiety through the roof, and poor sleep), but I was hoping some "easy" weight loss might be in my future.

CTSB I am 50, I started having the pre-menopause symptoms , hot flashes, moodiness, irregular periods etc. about 2 years ago. Irritating but not interfering in my day to day. Then a couple of months ago, I started to have panic attacks out of the blue, sleepless nights, anxiety, a morning sickness feeling most mornings along with a general lack of appetite (which by the way is NOT me... I Love Food!), IBS and all over achiness. I did get a blood panel done and everything looked good except for my hormones. Therefore Dr. concluded I was in perimenopause and probably because I had fibromyalgia also I was more sensitive to the hormonal changes going on in my body. But I do have a follow up appointment with Dr. on thurs and I will ask her about the estrogen thing. Thanks for bringing that up. Hopefully we will all get through this tough time in with our minds intact! Thankfully we have this site to keep each other informed!

I already was an anxious person with stomach/nausea issues, and with perimenopause , I had anxiety attacks, etc and lost 20 pounds so the doctor put me on Elavil 20mg. which really helped me sleep and eat well. Isabelle1954
