Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
The best thing you can do is make an appointment with your doctor and start grilling them with every question that comes to you. Actually, you want to make a list of questions, because they will keep coming up as you stret the next round over the hill and into the corkscrew and go around the bend upside down. Then hold a conference with your family and explain that you are going through menopause and they can expect the unexpected from you. If you are well mannered and contained, expect to act like a banshee. If you are known for polite speech and gentle words, they can expect yelling at the top of your lungs and Hollywood's worst profanity flying out of your mouth. If you are gentle with actions and known for being a fort in a storm, they can expect violent outbursts and brittleness. You are going to go through many period where you need to gaze into the mirror in order to find you. This is menopause. The hot flashes and night sweats are the least of it.
LAS, unfortunately, when menopause hits, it manages to exacerbate every prior medical condition you have; especially the emotional or psychological conditions.
