Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I'm just 49 and my hormones are fluctuating still. I even have calf twitching and have been to a neurologist twice and had EMG and nerve study done just to be sure it was nothing else.
Inner vibrations are very common - as you will find with a search. Anxiety increases that a lot!
I'm only on bioidentical progesterone, and herbs. I still have the occasional, random period.
Does anybody know anything about adrenal glands? how do they play a role with hormones we produce? how do I get my adrenal gland tested? would my regular Dr. do it?
It seems that most doctors don't recognize an adrenal problem unless they think you are at either end of the spectrum - either Cushing's or Addison's. Cortisol testing can be helpful but more specific and cumbersome tests are usually needed. Have you already had your thyroid checked? It is hard to know how much is ovarian vs. adrenal vs. thyroid!!
