Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
It is shocking to a woman our age. I have considered going the BIHR route. Hang in there and read up on your options. Eat healthy, exercise, rest and be kind to yourself!
And then I'm 33 (with an underlying condition). I had no period for 10m so I missed the cut off line, then I had periods that spaced out a day or three more each cycle and lasted 1-3 days.
I'm undergoing fertility treatment that controls all this now, so I can't imagine what's going on otherwise...with treatment I'm at a 36day cycle with 0-10days of bleeding.
There are magic age numbers where if you're under that age it get's called 'premature menopause' and younger still it's(was) called "Premature ovarian failure" ...I think the terms changed a little since I learned all about it.
12months of no period is the official entry to menopause.
You can still get a random period after that, and they can even be ovulatory, which my friend's mom didn't know when having a post menopausal fling...it was a happy ending for all.
It's hard to know what to do at this age. Denial has been a refuge of sorts, but then my body goes crazy and I just cannot hide from it anymore.
