It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

THE REASON FOR WRITING IS TO MORELESS VENT. I POSTED LASTNIGHT ABOUT SALTY AND SWEET CRAVINGS, BUT THE WORSE PART OF THIS MONTH HAS BEEN THE ***HOT FLASHES**** ONE MINUTE SWEATING THEN COMES THE COOL CLAMINESS, AAARRRGGG!!! THIS MONTH IS GOING TO BE A DOOZIE... OK I FEEL BETTER, THANKS LADIES FOR BEING THERE WHEN I NEED YOU:)

I go from one extreme to the next. Ill be having a raging hot flash and then a little while later I get really cold.

I also notice I am very sensitive to temp changes. 70 seems to be my average. If it is above I am REALLY hot. If it is below I am freezing.

Oh, welcome to the next couple years of your life, unless you find something to get them under control. Right now I'm going to try holistic, but I'm also going to schedule an appointment with my doctor today for a physical. I hate this.

JUST MY EXAM IN MAY. MY GYN OFFERED ME SO MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS THAT MY HEAD WAS SPINNING. WE BOTH DECIDED ON VALIUM, AND I STILL HAVE NOT TAKEN ONE. MEDS SCARE ME:) BUT I DO KNOW SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE. THE PAST FEW WEEKS HAVE BEEN HELL. PHYSICALLY , ALONG WITH EMOTIONALLY. I FEEL AT TIMES MENTALLY DRAINED!!!!

you ladies going through menopause need to get with a doctor that prescribes compounded bioidentical hormone cream that you use when you want to. you will feel like a million bucks. no kidding. have your blood tested for what your low on and get the cream and you can decide when you want to apply it. life doesnt have to be so bad.. good luck.

Hi Jee!
I went to the Doc to get the Rx for the Compound Pharmacy and my Doc did't know wht to prescribe. So I told him just put Progesterone Cream on there. I wonder if that's enough. I have to wait for the Hormone test to come back to see what I'm deficient in. What are you taking?

A friend of mine tried a product called Sellineum sp for Hot Flushes, says it's really working for her, bought it in a health food Store ( UK members, Julian Graves ) and it wasn't expensive ... Anybody tried it?

When I had my very first Hot flash I was in Florida....on my 1st night of vacation and I was stuck in a little hotel room (had to wait till the condo was ready the next day) with 3 kids, my best friend and my husband. I woke up from the hot flash to find my husband grinding his teeth, my best friend snoring away and the kids all passed out. I seriously didn't know if I was suicidal or homicidal at that point....LOL. That was the 1st and the worst one I ever had. I ended up in the bathroom, ran the tub full of cold water and sat on the edge of the tub with my feet in it, crying my eyes out. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I thought I was seriously losing my mind. I was 33 years old and had bee diagnosed only the month b4.

YEPEE!!! NO HOT FLASHES LAST NIGHT WHILE TRYING TO SLEEP:) ONLY HAD A COUPLE TODAY. I THINK I SEE THE LIGHT, LOL!!! WENT TO MY INTERNALIST TODAY TO GET A REFILL ON SOME SKIN CREAM, AND MENTIONED TO HIM ABOUT PREMENO, AND ASKED WHAT MY HORMONE LEVELS WERE IN JUNE WHEN THEY TOOK BLOOD. COME TO FIND OUT THEY DIDN'T CHECK FOR THAT AND HE CHIRPED UP TODAY AND SAID" WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR LEVELS? IF YOUR HAVING HOT FLASHES YOU KNOW YOUR GOING THRU THE CHANGE". MY WORDS TO HIM WERE" I WILL MAKE SURE I SEE MY GYN FOR ANY MENO PROBLEMS, THANK YOU". DONT GET ME WRONG HE IS A NICE DR, JUST NOT THE RIGHT ONE FOR MENO,LOL!! THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES LADIES. the cream is a basic formula consisting of bi-est or tri-est 1.25, progesterone 100, DHEA 10.

Boy do I hear you about the hot flashes and night sweats. I'm currently in a study for hot flashes. I'll let you know if I come up with any new ideas. In the meantime I've had some success with wicking pajamas called cool-jams. These have helped me sleep through the night. I got mine online.
