Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Unfortunately, research is finding a problem with thyroid testing. I continued to receive a normal thyroid test but had many of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I finally found a doctor who paid attention to my symptoms and put me on natural thyroid. It's sad but the medical system in this country is not what it should be.
At any rate, don't be discouraged by your symptoms, afterall menopause is not an illness, it's a transition and it does get better. Keep after your doctors until you get what you need. Be sure to get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, eat healthy and get exercise. All of those things will help you as well.
Good luck!

I agree with Caterina! I am post menopausal (though I'm wondering if you ever get 'over' it). I do bioidentical hrt, progesterone and a little testosterone. I chose not to do estrogens due to a fibroid issue (they can grow with estrogen supplement).
I just did start with an endocrinologist a few months ago. I also started thyroid meds with her. I had been told for YEARS that I was NORMAL. I read that the thyroid ranges were originally figured out a long time ago using young, MALE, med students. Does this make sense?!?! Anyway, my anxiety is better and I have more 'oomph'.
I would be careful in taking more pharmaceuticals that address the symptoms and not the CAUSE. Hope this makes sense!
I did alot of research and found something that works for me.
My worst symptoms were in my mid to late forties.
I would try to find a female doctor in your age group that really GETS IT...
Good luck,
JK
Hope you find some comfort.
