Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I have had heart poundings...fast heart rate ...hormone levels pre perimenopause one month and the next month levels at almost post menopause. I went to er last week with palpitations and slight pressure on my chest. They kept me over night for observation and I am set up for a echo stress this Thursday. I have become very depressed and am having anxiety. If you would have told me a year ago that I'd have insomnia...I would have never believed it. But yep...I now wake up around 3:00...toss...turn and shake..
My Ob/gyn put me on a low dose birth control pill to try to stabilize my hormones but after 2 days I felt 4 x's worse and I quit . I am even now seeing a pyschiatrist who put me on an anti-depressant and xanax and something to help me sleep. Now I have to worry about becoming addicted to medication.
Hun...all I can say is I can't believe menopause can be this bad. This is pure craziness to me. I honestly have begun to feel like there is something major wrong with me.
I hope the doctor you see tomorrow can help you. Some people swear by hrt's...others say homeopathic and others say bio-identical is the way to go......Others just let nature take its' course and some people have no problems with menopause. Go figure.
I'm on HRT, SSRI and anti-anxiety meds.
Don't worry too much.....welcome to the fun.
Hugs
Rose
